Cause marketing topics have received a substantial amount of coverage in The Core – like here, here and here. And for good reason, too – because doing good often results in receiving good. Some call that karma, but we call it smart marketing.
Speaking of smart marketing, we’re extremely excited to introduce the 2014 Tour de Fresh: The Tour de Fresh is a 4-day cycling ride along the beautiful California coast, starting in Carmel and culminating in Anaheim on the day before the opening of the 2014 PMA Fresh Summit Convention & Expo. This not-for-profit event, envisioned by smart marketers Cindy Jewell and Anthony Gallino of California Giant Berry Farms, will align fresh produce growers, shippers, packers and vendors, as well as family and friends of the industry, and will benefit the Let’s Move Salad Bars to Schools campaign. The goal for this inaugural event is 30 riders and 30 salad bar donations, or a total of $78,750 total funds raised. Organizers of the event are encouraging riders to support schools in the Midwest region in advance of United Fresh 2014.
Here’s how you can (and why you should!) get involved:
- The event allows fresh produce industry companies and affiliates to demonstrate their passion and commitment to living the healthy lives that are promoted by their fresh products – think “practice what we’re preaching!”
- The Tour offers a nine month long, multifaceted marketing opportunity for sponsors and riders – terrific for the promotion of your company, products and services.
- The Let’s Move Salad Bars to Schools campaign will receive funding for multiple salad bars, which for fresh produce companies is the gift that keeps on giving as more salad bars increase the accessibility of our products to kids in schools.
